At Women’s Health Group, Dr. Jorge Miranda understands that the decision to undergo hysterectomy is an emotional one. A board-certified gynecologic surgeon who specializes in women's health issues, Dr. Miranda is one of the pioneers of highly effective laparoscopic hysterectomy. This procedure:
- Is minimally invasive
- Results in shorter recovery time
- Produces minimal pain & scarring
Minimally invasive, easier on the patient.
During laparoscopic hysterectomy, Dr. Miranda uses a thin, lighted telescope-like instrument called a laparoscope, which acts like a video camera, along with small surgical instruments that are all inserted through tiny incisions in the navel and abdomen. Using these instruments, Dr. Miranda carefully separates the uterus from the cervix and removes it through one of the openings, leaving the cervix intact. There is no large abdominal incision, and most patients will be resting at home within 24 hours. Some patients may benefit from this procedure when used in conjunction with the da Vinci robotics device.
Helping women remain whole and healthy.
Each year over 600,000 American women undergo hysterectomy. While some cases involve cancerous growths that require surgical intervention, many do not. Dr. Miranda's ultimate goal is to help patients avoid hysterectomy whenever possible by providing multiple nonsurgical options. When hysterectomy is clearly the best course of action, Dr. Miranda offers patients a wealth of expertise in laparoscopic surgery for a successful outcome.
